Interns
Abbi Alling

Abbi attends the University of Vermont and is majoring in History and minoring in Anthropology. She will be graduating in the spring of 2011. She is orginally from New England but now lives in Savannah Georgia and is very much enjoying Texas and all it has to offer. At GENaustin she is working on GENaustin's social media strategies for the upcoming conference in November and beyond. When she has the time she likes to ride horseback as much as possible and try and bear the Texas heat to garden.
Sarah Clausen

Sarah is an intern for GENaustin through Texas State University where she is a graduate student studying Family and Child Studies. Sarah graduated with her bachelor’s in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls in 2008. Last year she moved to Austin to take a stab at obtaining a master’s degree from Texas State University. As an administrative intern, Sarah is working with Executive Director Julia Cuba in creating documents that are vital to the success and preservation of organization such as an extensive board member manual and a compelling donation request letter. This fall she will be the graduate research assistant for two of her favorite professors. She hopes to one day work in the non profit sector either conducting program evaluations or opening a new girl empowerment organization in the Twin Cities (that’s in Minnesota). Sarah adores edgy hair styles, useless trinkets, antiques, and anything shabby chic. Also, she has recently started a salt and pepper shaker collection.
 Laura Mitchell

Laura is an intern at GENaustin through Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where she is pursuing a major in Anthropology and a minor in Communications. As a fundraising intern, she’s responsible for compiling information, collaborating with her fellow interns, and working directly with Executive Director, Julia Cuba. Prior to joining the GENaustin team, Laura studied abroad in Peru for a semester, and ate her way through the entire country! Laura’s interests include baking, traveling, watching 30 Rock, and running (sometimes).
