What I like about GENaustin: I love that GENaustin is addressing critical issues that girls face today, both locally and nationally. GENaustin is an amazing catalyst for change because we are educating our community about the uphill battle of growing up female. The staff members of GENaustin are as passionate about women's and girls issues as I am, and that makes our work environment not only energetic, but educational and very fun. Together we are committed to being a resource for our community - so that when a parent, educator or girl calls us for help, we have a way.

I fell in love with the kids and found out serving youth came so easy for me. I’ve been working with kids ever since.” After graduation she took a position with La Petite Preschool Academy and quickly moved up the ranks to become Assistant Director. From there, she accepted a position with the Austin Independent School District as a Program Director and now, GENaustin. What I like about GENaustin: GENaustin serves as a powerful resource in the central Texas community and helps to foster high self esteem. With GENaustin these girls can look forward to an awesome future where they are meeting and exceeding their goals. It feels great when, at the end of a workshop, the girls come up and thank you for what you’ve said or done. They remember that. GENaustin not only changes the lives of these girls, but all the adults as well because we’ve made being a girl just a little bit cooler.

After over three years of working in the advertising industry, she decided to pick up and start over in a new city. Working at GENaustin provides her the perfect balance between her interests working in business, working with the community, and helping young people.

What I like about GENaustin: GENaustin’s peer- lead model for their clubGEN program is two fold. Both the middle school and high school girls can gain invaluable experience and skills that they may use to build a stronger future. Not only does the clubGEN program reach Austin’s young women, but GENaustin has an even broader reach in our community, with programs to help educate adults about current women’s issues as well.
