Serve as a role model and mentor to pre-teen girls! Are you interested in empowering girls? GENaustin is seeking motivated, energetic women to intern in our afterschool program for middle school girls. clubGEN is a weekly afterschool program designed to help equip middle school girls with the skills and awareness they need to navigate the pressures of the teen years –with support from young adult role models and each other.

Location: GENaustin Main Office at The Ann Richards School
Reports to: clubGEN Program Manager
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a week; flexible
Compensation: This is a volunteer intern position with college credit available.
Number of positions available: 3 in the fall and spring.

Qualified Applicants Will:

• Facilitate a clubgen afterschool program of middle school girls from 3:30 – 5:30pm (day of the week to be determined and flexible)
• Attend a weekly 2 hour planning meeting every (Friday 10am-12pm)
• Work in a team-oriented environment
• Gain valuable group facilitation skills
• Be committed to the goals/mission of GENaustin.
• Group experience and or experience with pre-teens a plus.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be pursuing a degree in social services, education, leadership, or other facilitation training.

The position of Graphic Designer will help support the clubGEN Program Team. Help create effective and fun marketing materials (flyers, brochures, postcards, book markers, etc.) for middle and high school girls that will be used for recruitment.

Location: GENaustin Main Office at The Ann Richards School

Key Responsibilities include:

• Design organizational and program materials as needed. (e.g., create event invitations, design student incentive artwork, layout e-newsletters, student handouts and other recruitment collateral)
• Collaborate with the Program Manger and Program Director to make design and content revisions.

Reports to: Program Manager

Length of Appointment: Ideally for one semester or more.

Time Commitment: 8-10 hours a week (project based, so some weeks may be more)

Compensation: This is a volunteer intern position with college credit available.

Skills:

• Degree in graphic design or art (or equivalent design experience) required.
• Must have his/her own computer with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable software.
• Must be able to effectively meet required deadlines.
• Must be able to work in a team setting or individual.
• Must possess significant creativity and innovation.

Purpose: The Program Research Assistant will conduct two major research projects for the GENaustin program department. One project will focuses on how to engage AISD PTAs; the other will inform the workshop program through a transition to a fee-based model.

Location: GENaustin main office at the Ann Richards School

Key Responsibilities:

• Research—conducting research on how to engage AISD PTAs and best practices for a fee-based service model for nonprofits
• Partner surveys—surveying workshop partners for their ability to pay fees and their opinions about a potential transition to a fee-based model.
• Report preparation—by the conclusion of the internship, the Program Research Assistant should provide GENaustin with two reports; one on the engagement of AISD PTA members and the other making recommendations for a transition to a fee-based workshop model.

Reports to: Conference and Workshop manager

Length of Appointment: Ideally, the Workshop Volunteer Engagement Intern would serve for both the fall and spring semesters, but fall semester only is also acceptable.

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a week; flexible

Compensation: This is a volunteer intern position with college credit available.

Skills:

• Obtained or pursuing a degree in management, communications, social work, human resources, or nonprofit management preferred.
• Must be committed to the goals/mission of GENaustin.
• Must be team oriented.

Purpose: The Recruitment Coordinator Intern will assist the clubGEN Program Manager and clubGEN program team in creating and implementing unique and fun ways to reach out to students, teachers, parents and the community with the goal of getting as many girls involved in the clubGEN afterschool program as possible.

Location: GENaustin main office at the Ann Richards School

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Recruitment—researching and implementing best practices for recruitment of middle school students and teacher engagement.
• Parent and Guardian engagement—communicating and interacting with potential and current members’ family to engage them and keep them involved.
• Direct service—visiting school locations and various events with the help of volunteers for recruitment.

Reports to: clubGEN Program Manager

Length of Appointment: Ideally, the Recruitment Coordinator Intern would serve for both the summer and fall semester.

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a week; flexible

Compensation: This is a volunteer intern position with college credit available.

Skills:

• Obtained or pursuing a degree in management, communications, human resources, or nonprofit management preferred.
• Must be committed to the goals/mission of GENaustin.
• Must be team oriented.
