What I like about GENaustin: I love that GENaustin is addressing critical issues that girls face today, both locally and nationally. GENaustin is an amazing catalyst for change because we are educating our community about the uphill battle of growing up female. The staff members of GENaustin are as passionate about women's and girls issues as I am, and that makes our work environment not only energetic, but educational and very fun. Together we are committed to being a resource for our community - so that when a parent, educator or girl calls us for help, we have a way. |

What I like about GENaustin:
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it." -- Martha Graham
"I've always wanted to cultivate modesty but I've been far too busy." -- Dame Edith Sitwell
Often times, women are expected to do or to change or to be certain things for the world, not for themselves. At GENaustin, girls are encouraged to question these mainstream ideas, and cultivate their own dreams, their own happiness and their own goals. My mission is to bring my own life experiences to the table to help facilitate this, so girls can learn how to make the kind of lives that they envision for themselves as they face the challenge of critically analyzing socially imposed values, and to enjoy the often times difficult process of becoming strong women.
