clubGEN is a weekly after-school program for middle school girls led by trained and employed
high school girls with support from adults supervisors. Through training, mentoring from adults,
and hands-on experience, high school girls acquire skills to lead middle school girls through
experiential activities designed to promote self-esteem, self-exploration, and positive peer
relationships. The curriculum is one of the only girl-specific research-based curricula in existence.
The nine program topics are: Being a girl, body image, expressing my individuality, friendship, honoring our diversity,
mind, body & spirit, paths to the future, relationships with peers, who I am.

During interactive Girl Talk presentations or panel discussions, middle school girls have the
opportunity to educate themselves and ask candid questions to professionals and role models
on such topics as developing healthy friendships, bullying, body image, dating and careers.
Girl Talk provides a safe, girl-only environment, where girls can discuss their concerns about
important topics. In addition to giving girls the opportunity to create lasting relationships
with women in exciting, non-traditional careers and leadership positions, Girl Talk helps to
open the lines of communication between girls and their parents through presentations on
maintaining good parent/child relationships. |
